Trailer & Poster for Chasing Mavericks
Scotsman Gerard Butler will be returning to the big screen this fall in Curtis Hanson’s Chasing Mavericks (initially titled Of Men and Mavericks). The 8 Mile director teams up with writers Brandon Hooper and Kario Salem to bring to the big screen the inspirational true story of Californian surfing icon Jay Moriarity, portrayed by rising star Jonny Weston. The film tells the story of Moriarity’s dream to conquer Northern California’s most dangerous wave and how he looks to local surfing legend Frosty Hesson (Butler) for mentorship and support – a relationship that would turn into a lifelong bond. The film also stars Abigail Spencer, Elisabeth Shue, Leven Rambin and Scott Eastwood.
A new poster and trailer for the film were recently released, which can be seen below. An interesting point: currently, only 25% of TIFF 2012 films have been officially announced. With an October 26th release date, this film has a good chance of screening at the 2012 festival. We’ll just have to wait and see!
