Tara Priya’s music is as difficult to categorize as is the funky artist herself. This young musician combines traditional soul and contemporary pop to create a truly unique musical amalgamation.
Tara was introduced to music by her parents at a young age-she cites The Beatles, Bob Dylan, and Billie Holiday as early influences-and began creating it herself when she was only four years old. After the loss of her mother, Tara was inspired to begin vocal training, gravitating towards opera and jazz. Eventually, she moved to New York City to attend university and begin performing. Tara’s first full-length album, released in 2012, showcases her personal blend of sassy soul and poetic pop, and a second album is scheduled for release in the spring of 2013. In the meantime, Tara performs in festivals all over the world, from the Bacardi NH7 Weekender festival in India to our very own NXNE festival here in Toronto.
