The puppet said what?!

17 Jan

The one thing I always look for is an opportunity to do something different and share that unique experience with folks. However, this past sunday I got to experience something QUITE different. The wonderful folks at Lower Ossington Theatre, AKA The LOT, wrap up their current season with the production of the critically acclaimed  Broadway Musical, Avenue Q. Directed by Seanna Kennedy and choreographed by Amelia Hironaka, Avenue Q tells the story about Princeton, a college grad who moves to the big apple with big dreams and very little money. Unfortunately, with his tiny bank account, he can only afford to live far out on Avenue Q, a place that gives him a reality check on the common man’s world. He gets to learn embrace everyday difficulties and see how great life really is. This story truly humors life, redefining the way you think about the everyday happenings. If words aren’t enough, maybe some shiny titles will be: Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Score & Best Book. Yeah, pretty intense.

Don’t miss a chance to see this Broadway masterpiece right here in Toronto. The following are more details about the show and how to buy tickets:

January 18-February 4
Lower Ossington Theatre, 100A Ossington Avenue (between Queen and Dundas)

  1. The puppets of Avenue Q are back! « The Arts Scene - January 22, 2012

[...] There is always a question one asks when something iconic as Avenue Q is taken and then locally produced: Has the magic of the show been retained? Happily, more than ever! From the very beginning, you are captivated by the brilliant puppetry showcased by the company. Every detail, from the way the puppets speak to the direction of their eyes, has been accounted for. The puppeteers, who are physically there on stage, also mimic the emotions displayed by the puppets, making it easier for the audience to stay in tune with the moment if focus is shifted from the puppets to the puppeteers. The attention to detail is mind-boggling and the result is absolutely brilliant. You can see the puppetry in-action in interviews conducted with the puppets. CLICK HERE. [...]
